Music2Deal: Chalam, you are actually a painter and a doctor. How come you are now writing songs?

Chalam: I continue to be both.My journey as a songwriter has just begun,it just happened. Words have become my best friends.

Music2Deal: Where do you get your ideas from? What inspires you?

Chalam: I generate ideas with intent, sometimes unintentionally.I do believe my subconscious mind works when I am at work,when asleep.The human mind is a marvel,so full of ideas.All you need to do is tap.Inspiration?I draw inspiration from dawn and dusk,cloud and rain,joy and tear,voice and whisper,birth and death,trust and betrayal and life around me.

Music2Deal: Can you tell us something about the collaborations you already had?

Chalam: I collaborate with professionals who believe in team work.To name a few,I have had the pleasure of working with and for Raylan Cooper,Jurgen Geyer,Michael Keintzel,Oliver Kramer,Burak Celic,Viola Scheer,Manuela Rauser,Rolf Christl,Kai Fiefstuck;all members of music2deal.I work with other friends from far reaches of this small planet.

Music2Deal: What are your future plans concerning to music?

Chalam: Plans?”Any idea, plan,or purpose may be placed in the mind through repetition of thought.”

-Napoleon Hill. One more idea,one more song,several re-writes and fine tuning.I repeat this thought several times every day and sit down to write.It’s about endless enjoyable hours to leave behind a song or two of worth for fellow travelers.

Music2Deal: Is there something you would criticize about the music industry? Which changes would need to be done to improve the situation?

Chalam: Criticism?I happen to be a healthy critic.Good communication and patience can do wonders for collaborators.It’s pretty sad to notice some professionals do not value both. Friends,open out, reach out.Join hands to make great songs “together.”

How free hosts can help you working on your music with people around the globe

Music2Deal is a platform for producers, songwriters and artists around the world. But what happens if you decide to record a song with somebody who lives at the back of beyond? I would like to present you some platforms and possibilities which make it easier to exchange big music files.

1. Dropbox

Dropbox is a very easy and effective way to share and exchange your files with others. It is a free service and non of your files will ever be lost, even if your laptop is totally damaged.
You can work from any computer, no matter where in the world you are and this makes it very easy to work on a song with others.

Pros: It’s free; 2GB free storage space; easy and quick

2. File-Upload

File-Upload is a free service. After a quick registration you will have access to unlimited storage space. If you don’t want to register as a user, you will only be able to upload 200 MB per upload.

3. Rapidshare

Rapidshare is a free hosting platform. You need to register as a user to use the service. One negative aspect is that your files will be deleted after 30 days.

Interview mit Sven Hessel

Music2Deal: Erzähl uns doch bitte etwas über dich und KHB Music.

Sven Hessel: Musik ist für mich sehr wichtig und aus meinem Leben einfach nicht wegzudenken. Seit fast 30 Jahren bin ich im Musikbusiness tätig – in ganz unterschiedlichen Positionen. Ich war schon Produzent, Autor, Labelmanager und –inhaber, aber auch aktiver Musiker. Bei der Multimediafirma KHB-MediaGroup leite ich aktuell die Promotionabteilung und bin Geschäftsführer der KHB Music, einem speziellen Bereich dieses Unternehmens. KHB Music betreut einige Künstler exklusiv, bei anderen Künstlern kümmern wir uns nur um Teilbereiche.

Music2Deal: Was genau macht ihr und worauf habt ihr euch spezialisiert?

Sven Hessel: KHB Music fungiert als Management für unsere Exklusiv-Künstler (z. B. Hella Donna). Dabei kümmern wir uns neben den eigentlichen Managementaufgaben auch um Produktion, Vermarktung und Promotion. Dabei profitieren wir natürlich von den vielen Kontakten zu unseren nationalen und internationalen Partnern. KHB Music ist aber auch ein Label, welches von der Berliner Firma “Monopol Records” administriert wird.

 Music2Deal: Was kannst du uns über das Projekt Hella Donna erzählen?

Sven Hessel: Hella Donna, die Power-Rock-Pop-Band aus Sachsen, wurde im Jahr 2003 gegründet. Nach zwei erfolgreichen Studioalben, sechs Singles, einer DVD und hunderten von Liveshows, TV-Auftritten und Airplays gönnte sich die Band 2011 eine erste kreative Pause. 2012 starteten wir nun neu – mit überarbeitetem Musikkonzept, veränderter Besetzung und einer fantastischen neuen Frontfrau, Anika Karabas. Im September wird unser drittes Album veröffentlicht. Die erste Singleauskopplung “Perfect” ist bereits seit Juni 2012 erhältlich. Besonders stolz sind wir auf den Hella Donna Song “Not the Cure”, den wir zusammen mit dem Grammy-Gewinner Philip Larsen produziert haben. Schon jetzt ist dieser Titel für die Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2012 nominiert, dem renommierten amerikanischen Musikpreis.

Music2Deal: Momentan sucht ihr Partner zur weltweiten Vermarktung von Hella Donna. Wie viel Arbeit steckt tatsächlich hinter solch einem großen Projekt?

Sven Hessel: Ja, das ist richtig. Wir sind tatsächlich auf der Suche nach weiteren Partner (Labels, Verlage etc.). Auch hoffen wir natürlich, mithilfe von Music2Deal spannende und interessante neue Kontakte knüpfen zu können. Den Aufwand für das neue Album kann man sicher nicht in Zahlen fassen, aber insgesamt haben wir rund 14 Monate daran gearbeitet. Auch sind wir ein paar Tausend Kilometer durch ganz Deutschland gefahren, da wir in verschiedenen Studios aufgenommen und produziert haben. Jetzt braucht es natürlich noch viel Zeit und Ausdauer für die Promotion der neuen Veröffentlichung. Aber das wird schon alles klappen, da bin ich sicher.

Music2Deal: Wo siehst du das Projekt und dich in 5 Jahren? Was sind eure nächsten Ziele?

Sven Hessel: Ja, wenn ich das wüsste … Ich bin ja kein Wahrsager und denke, dass es in unserer heutigen Zeit besonders schwer ist, 5 Jahre vorauszuschauen. In nächster Zeit, also noch 2012, steht neben der Veröffentlichung des neuen Hella Donna Albums “Groove On” mit dem Song “Not the Cure” eine weitere Singleauskopplung an. Anika und ihre Jungs werden 2012 noch einige Live-Gigs spielen, wobei wir für 2013 eine recht große Tour durch Deutschland, Österreich und die Schweiz planen. Schwerpunkt ist natürlich, unsere Musik national und international weiter bekannt zu machen.

Music2Deal: Hast du eine besondere Erfolgsformel, von der sich aufstrebende Künstler etwas abgucken können?

Sven Hessel: Da gibt es leider kein Geheimrezept. Aber ich denke, es ist wichtig, an sich und seine Musik zu glauben. Dazu ein Schuss Ehrgeiz, Hartnäckigkeit und Ausdauer, ein gesundes Maß an Selbstbewusstsein, Kritikfähigkeit, Talent und Glück. Dann das richtige Timing. Was natürlich das Allerwichtigste ist – man sollte sich immer den Spaß am Musikmachen bewahren und das authentisch nach außen transportieren. Ganz einfach eigentlich! :-)
